Magical Taste of China

Xinjiang is a multicultural region where the cooking reflects the cooking styles of many ethnic groups within the region. Xinjiang cuisine is commonly known as Uyghur cuisine or halal cuisine within China. Most of the population in Xinjiang are Muslims so the food is predominantly halal. The history of Halal cuisine in China dates back to the Tang dynasty.

The Xinjiang cuisine is influenced in the last decade after some eastern province’s cuisine were introduced in the region, making Xinjiang cuisine more diverse.

Xinjiang reminds people of its vast grassland and the famous song “from far far away(在那遥远的地方)”. Magical Taste of China offers the true authentic cuisine from Western China area and we welcome all Torontonians to join us to experience the magical experience it brings.

新疆是一个多民族聚居的地区，其中信仰伊斯兰教的兄弟民族以食牛羊肉为主，在漫长的生活中创新出了别具一格的烹饪技术。新疆饮食文化中最耀眼的明珠当属少数民族的饮食文化，也就是清真餐饮。清真餐饮业是经营信仰伊斯兰教各民族菜肴、食品的饮食行业。“清净无染，真乃独一”谓之清真，其菜肴称清真菜。随着公元7世纪中叶伊斯兰教传入中国和信奉伊斯兰教民族的形成，清真菜便逐渐产生、发展起来。清真菜又称回族菜，其历史渊源，可以追溯到唐朝。

由于这里大部分民族是信仰产于阿拉伯的伊斯兰教，将伊斯兰教对饮食方面的特殊要求与当地的饮食文化互相交融，另一方面，由于中国改革开放的时间并不长，旨在近几十年东部些许省份特别的饮食文化也传播到新疆，与当地的饮食激情碰撞，相互吸收，最终使得新疆饮食在烹饪技术更加多元化，清真菜肴的口味也有所改变。

一提起新疆，人们马上会联想起浩瀚无际的隔壁草原和《在那遥远的地方》这首新疆民歌。以地道新疆风味为特色的西域食府将遥远的西域风情展现在多伦多人的面前，使人们感到新疆不再遥远。
